Get a brian, morans

Maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention, but I don't feel oppressed. In fact, I'm pleased as punch about the size of my tax refund and as far as social policy goes, I think that Obama is heading in a distinctly non-tyrannical direction. The economy sucks, but that's not his fault and all predictions indicate that recovery is on the horizon.

But this tea party crap (and it is crap) - I've outlined in rather colorful detail how I feel about this bullshit, but the actual footage gives me heartburn.



In addition to the fact that one cannot be both a socialist and a fascist (though I'm pleased to report that you can be a wingnut and a teabagger at the same time), I'm pretty sure that Obama is not a Nazi either. And more to the point, I'm kind of resentful about the Hitler references, because he's a moderately liberal Democrat (yeah, about that - he's not as liberal as the right seems to think) and if he's a Nazi, that means that, like, 62% of Americans are Nazi sympathizers.

The fact is that if Congress and the White House hadn't lowered taxes for most Americans (while raising the highest tax rate to approximately ten percent lower than Reagan-era taxes) or passed the stimulus act, right wingers would probably still be pissed about something and spend days at a time waving teabags and congratulating themselves for being hilarious and revolutionary. Our democratically elected Congress and President cannot do anything that will satisfy the minority of Americans who did not vote for them. That's just the way things are. They can claim to want lower, higher, sideways or diagonal taxes, free AK-47s for all schoolchildren, a legal right to hunt wild Muslims and to drill right here right now goddammit, but even if they get those things, what they really want from our government is for it to all be white, male and Republican. However, since most of these people lack the cajones to articulate this, they're going to spend the rest of this administration stammering an incoherent list of gripes and conspiracy theories that tie Obama with Hitler, ACORN, Bill Ayers, the Magna Carta, Roswell, bin Laden, Mussolini, contaminated aspirin and bad pot roast. The entire time, they'll insist that their right to free speech is being summarily quashed and I will have a steady stream of that weepy douchebag moron Glenn Beck to entertain me at all times.
